Kayla graduated from Clemson University in 2013 with a degree in Special Education. Soon after, she began working with a personal trainer and discovered her love of fitness. In 2014, Kayla became a certified personal trainer through NSCA. While teaching, Kayla recognized a need within the special education community – a lack of adaptable fitness and athletics geared towards individuals with disabilities. Although she enjoyed her time teaching, Kayla knew she wanted to find a way to merge the two sectors and provide this unique service to an underserved population! She went on to get her Crossfit Level 1 certification, took the Crossfit Adaptive Training Course, and began coaching and training at her local Crossfit box, where she was able to grow in her knowledge of health, fitness, and training. In early 2019, Kayla and her business partner created Thriver - a personal training business designed to provide fitness opportunities for individuals within the special needs community. Kayla is a Certified Autism Trainer and uses her knowledge and experience to provide individualized fitness plans for each of her clients.
