I am currently the Adapted Physical Education teacher at the Monarch School of New England. Students participate in an instant activity which is designed to get a student’s body moving. After the instant activity comes the unit of a wide range of individual and team movement activities. I have based my units on a four day unit. This allows students to work on three key skills through practice opportunities and ending with an activity that focuses on the skill of the day. On the fourth and final day of the unit, students practice the skills they’ve learned in the three previous classes to participate in real games. The beauty about P.E. is that it is so universal, it has no boundaries. The reason I teach PE is because physical activity can bring people together; and by doing that, you create a community.
