Aloha, I'm John White, I'm an Adaptive Surf Coach and Special Needs Fitness Trainer living in North County San Diego. There is nothing I enjoy more than sharing my passions for fitness and nature with individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities.
My experience includes growing up as a Boy Scout in Louisiana and joining the US Navy at 19. In the Navy I operated as an Air Traffic Controller(AW) and Military Security. I became an NASM Certified Personal Trainer in the military and continued my fitness career after deployment, eventually becoming a Licensed EMT-B before founding the fitness company TruFit with my brother. Through TruFit I've worked to bring Functional Fitness to families looking for an active path. Currently I'm collaborating with The ARC of San Diego to bring functional fitness to Southern California's special need community. I also operate an Inclusive Adaptive Surf Club called Waves4All.org which provides progression based surf sessions for all levels of water athletes.
It is my goal to provide families, individuals and fellow practitioners with a teammate in the game of life. Through real challenge comes real reward and an opportunity to push further. I have worked directly with countless athletes both in training and outdoor experiences. I find there are few things as powerful and motivating than as helping someone overcome an obstacle. Through science, experience and a little ingenuity, I hope to show people a more honest side of fitness; one that enables them to not only achieve, but to thrive with others in the pursuit of achievement.
