Resistance Band Pull-downs for a Strong Upper Body

In this edition of Movement of the Moment, Autism Fitness Founder Eric Chessen discusses the importance of the resistance band pull-down to strengthen the shoulders, upper back, and provide much-needed trunk stability for our athletes with autism.

The resistance band pull-down is a vertical pull with the arms completing the full range of motion. Upper body pulling is not only an essential movement pattern, but one that is often neglected and overshadowed by pushing movements. We “balance” out all this daily pushing (often accompanied by internal shoulder rotation) with pulling movements.

In addition to the larger muscle groups, the resistance band pull-down can also enhance grip strength, a common deficit for this population. Check out the latest MotM below in case you missed it….
